Stores and Restaurants

Staying in Montecatini Val di Cecina

In Montecatini you can find all the essential stores, gathered in the town's central square or just beyond.

There is the Central bar, the beating heart of social life, great for breakfasts and appetizers. The two grocery stores are well stocked, with fresh bread and excellent selections of local products.

There is a famous clothing store that draws customers from all over Tuscany because of the very low prices and the possibility of finding quality clothes as well. Also in Republic Square are a Bank, a pharmacy, and a Tobacconist's-shop.

In Montecatini there are two very good restaurants in the piazza with very moderate prices, La Terrazza sul Borgo and Il Buglione, and one in the mine area L'Ippocastano, which, however, is open by reservation only.

Outside Montecatini, staying in the mid-price range, we recommend L'Osteria dell'Ultimo Carbonaio in Montegemoli (20 Minutes, exquisite), Don Beta in Volterra.

Staying in Volterra, for a cheap and special lunch we recommend the pizzeria "Da Nanni," probably the smallest in the world, but take-out is also possible (rivers park might be a good place to eat it).

For a moderately priced beach lunch we recommend Altaduna, our favorite establishment and not bad restaurant.

For those who want to spend more (60-80) we recommend Il Mocajo in Casino di Terra, Del Duca in Volterra and La Pineta in Bibbona, all three of which are extraordinary and justly famous.

If, like us, you are a true food enthusiast, just ask, and we can range in all directions.
